Battle of the Bridge Round 3 - Beauie Worlds Edition.

Sunday 21st brought the Battle of the Bridge to Beauemont Road and it was clearly to anyone that attended the race on theweekend that Alexis needs to head back to pre-school to learn to count. With each club assigned 8 riders per club per grade as there was a sea of smurf blue, with MWCC entering 17 riders into B Grade alone. Suvelo had a good strong contingent, while RBCC must of got lost somewhere heading north as they struggled to hit double figures.

Folks

While we watch the TDF warriors battle the brutal climbs, let's turn our minds to a course of a different kind - the super-quick Beauie crit circuit. This is Sydney's premier criterium race.

Yes Beauie is back for our monthly schedule of great (and safe) crit racing. Format will be scratch races across four grades A-D. All NSCC club members need to get out there on Sunday to ensure they catch the selector's eye for the next round of Battle of the Bridge, to be held at Beauie on 21 August.

NSCC Dominate Battle of the Bridge Round One

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Yesterday 21 NSCC warriors rode across the bridge to Heffron Park at Maroubra to do our club proud at the first round of the Battle of the Bridge inter-club series.

It was great seeing a big NSCC bunch ride down the Pacific Highway - same coming back after the race - and old timers like Matt Garnon reminisced to us youngsters about the glory days when this used to happen back in the day.

In the three grades there were massive bunches and our three race captains - Mick Cupitt, Matt Garnon and Pete Beaumont - all led from the front with each getting on the podium.

A Reminder About Bunch Rides

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

To all members. The article, reproduced below, is a timely reminder of the joys and etiquette of bunch rides. As the article says, a bunch ride is exactly that - a bunch ride - not a surgefest, or dangerfest like overtaking over double lines on a descent.

Please read this and remember why you first started doing bunch rides, it's about fun and friendship - also if you want to race, then race - Beauie is the perfect venue to test your strength and speed, not a club bunch ride.

NSCC Is fortunate to have so many riders who race at the national elite level. I will be running a series of web stories about the club's high achievers over the coming months.

First up is our Women's Coordinator, Briony Mattocks, who has been killing them on the dirt this year in her maiden year at national level. Last weekend she finished within 5 points of winning the monster Bayview Bash series - her success this year has been phenomenal and an inspiration to all our female riders to compete on both road and MTB.
