2015 NSCC Club Championships - Report and Photos

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Great day's racing in the winter sunshine for our annual club championships.

High quality racing all round across every division with Masters 1-3 proving to be the fastest bunch in mowing down Elite after one lap.....power plus with these "mature" riders. Matty Garnon showed all that tactics and strength go together.

Matt Osbourne, one of our Junior Academy graduates, got up in Elite with an impressive display of power finishing - great to see Helmut's juniors shake it up.

In Women's Elite, Queen of the Dirt Track - Briony Mattocks - took the title.

After the disappointment of a rain-cancelled Beauie last month, I have 100% guarantees from the Bureau of Meteorology that this Sunday will be clear blue skies to allow Sydney and the Coast's best racers to attend Beauie.

We are now in the midst of the opens race season and the best way to get yourself into top shape is to race crits - and Beauie is the best.

Tom Green Excels At National Cyclocross Series

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Cyclocross is becoming huge in Australia - following the trend in Europe and now North America.

Some excellent results for our younger club riders over the last few weeks continued with Tom Green taking out Round 3 & 4 of the National CX Series in Vic in the U19 category.

U19 riders started at the back of the Elite field and put some of the slower elite mens riders to the sword in both races. On Saturday Tom had a gap with one other rider in tow and was forced to do all the work for the last lap and a half before still having the strength to take the two up sprint for the win.

October 10th and 11th will see Wayne Grech and Steve Currie, from NSCC, riding 200km starting at Homebush then heading for the Richmond and Hawkesbury regions of North West Sydney.

NSCC At NSW Masters Championships

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

At this year's State Masters in Griffith, the club had 11 representatives across most grades. A couple of notable omissions this year with regular winners, Ross Hodgson and Richard Spinks, not competing; no doubt building for Nationals in September.

It was a great weekend as always with gorgeous weather - not a breath of wind - so people had to dig deep into the Book of Cycling Excuses to blame factors other than the weather for things not going their way in races.

The rain gods were smiling on NSCC yesterday as the rain cleared in time for us to hold another hugely successful Beauie Worlds - Sydney's Premier Criterium Race.

The prospect of rain didn't deter a big crowd and all grades had good strong fields which led to exciting racing. Most of Sydney's clubs were represented and it was great to see all flying their clubs' colours.

Beauie Results 29th March

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Beautiful autumn weather brought out Sydney and the Central Coast's finest crit racers, as we had maximum numbers across A-C grades and a healthy contingent in D grade. Riders came from as far away as Tamworth to get a share of the spoils on offer.

There was fast safe racing and some amazing performances - we even saw Simon Geezer Davies sprinting for 4th in A grade, strange days indeed.

All clubs were there in numbers - Central Coast, Manly Warringah, Dulwich Hill, Lidcome Auburn and as mentioned above even Tamworth.
