An update on Daniel

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

This is an update on Daniel from George. Daniel has been moved to Royal North Shore, but as previously requested, the family and doctors do not want visitors just yet.

Daniel had a marathon 12 hour rebuild on his right leg the other day, and now has enough Titanium rods and pins in him to build a bike frame.

As you can see in the pictures, he is in a stable condition at the moment but natural bit down as one would expect. The next operation is to look at his hip.

An update on Daniel Moit

Sadly, one of NSCC favourite son's, Daniel Moit was involved in a serious car accident on the weekend. George contacted El Pres today to pass on the news to NSCC members and friends.

Daniel is in intensive care in Penrith but thankfully is stable.

Many club members know and admire Daniel very well, and we extend our best wishes to Daniel, and to Michael and the Moit family, and we are praying for a speedy and full recovery.

At this stage, visitors are not permitted and we should all avoid making any contact to allow Daniel complete rest.

Please hold Daniel in our thoughts.

This year, Robert Santone, Simon Davies, Jim Ireland and Neil Matthews took part along with 190 other riders from all over Australia. The weather was mostly good after the strong head winds of Saturday and Sunday passed.

This year, the route varied ending up in Ballina at the end of day 6. Day 7 was then a fast (and mostly) flat run along the north coast to Surfers.

Cootamundra race weekend

It was pleasing to see 20+ NSCC riders make the trek to Cootamundra to contest the first of their races for the year. The Coota May race heralds the start of the new country race season and quite a few "rookies" ventured out to stretch their legs.

Congratulations to Lee "Leethal" Robson and Richard Spinks who both achieved top 10 on Saturday and Sunday, and to Larri Wallbridge who fininhsed 4th in the Womens category.

Important Update for Central Coast Calga Road Racing

I have just received notification from CCCC that, until further notice, there are new conditions on their Calga road races which have been set by Cycling NSW.

So for this Sunday's race, and all future races for now, CCCC can only allow riders from other clubs who have NOT raced previously at Calga in 2014 season. So to be clear, no NSCC rider who has already competed at Calga this year, will be allowed to compete.

CCCC apologises for the late notice and they hope that these restrictions can be lifted in the future. I will update members if this changes.

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Ever wanted to race in another team but can't bear to leave your mates? Well at Beauie this Sunday, you can race in another team but your mates won't hate you because it's only for one race.

Also for those racers who bombed at Coota because they couldn't contest the sprint finish - Beauie is the perfect race to hone those fast twitch muscles, so that next opens race you'll be powering home like Cav and Kittel.

Helmut reports on how the NSCC Juniors took on the Mountain at Bathurst

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

What a great weekend of racing at Bathurst with NSCC well represented in the Junior ranks. All the Junior competitors gave all they had in their races. It was great watching them on the day ... they all put in 110% effort. Most importantly they all had fun.

They all enjoyed themselves on the day and were pleased with their results.

After racing and the next day a few of the juniors and parents road laps of the actual Bathurst 1000 circuit. They absolutely loved climbing up the mountain especially the parents. LOL !!!!!!!!!! I loved the smile of the kids when that happen.

Easter Friday Wiseman's River ride - a great base training hit out for NSCC

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

The Easter Friday NSCC training ride has been a fave at this time of the year, and sweetly timed just 3 weeks out from the Coota race or the YOTS Sydney-Surfers ride.

The bunch leaves Hornsby pool at 7am, and the first part of the ride is to Windsor via Galston Gorge.

From Windsor we head over to the Sackville ferry, then onto the River Road. The run along the River Road is one of the highlights of the ride, mixing tarmac and dirt roads.

We park up at to Wisemans for lunch.

From there we head back to Glenorie and through Berowra ferry home to Hornsby. Should be about 160kms.

BikeBug Beauie Worlds turns out again in style for race day 2

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

A handicap was the format for Round 2 of Bike Bug Beauie Worlds and turned out to be cracking day's racing.

And this nice thing about a handicap is that anyone can win on the day. Round 2 was no exception with D-grade riders hanging on until the final 100 metres to win the top 3 places, all going to NSCC riders.

A great turn-out of 73 riders sign-on meant that the pace was going to be fast. A-grade averaged almost 45 kph and is thought to be the fastest race ever!
