Beauie Worlds Report Jan 8 - Garnon Gets His Win
A small but aggressive bunch turned up for racing today keen to get their emotions fired up in preparation for the live coverage of the Australian Road Nationals later in the day.
A Grade
The racing in A was fast and Timmy "Version 2.0" Duncans return to racing has him motivated for a crack at the A Grade title.
Not without a great showing together with Andy Logan, the two boys put in strong displays on the bike. Perhaps 2 new guns to watch in 2012.
It was however, NSCC's ever present Phil Nelson and NSCC's loyal Secretary who put the real hurt on in A grade, breaking away early and staying away for over 40min.
While Phil has the experience of winning A Grade at Beaumont Road previously, Matt by far has the stronger kick so bets on who was going to win were 50:50.
After years of training, practice on the Mt KuRing Gai circuit, the aligning of the planets and Matt's health and physical condition in its prime condition, his opportunity to display his "real capability" was finally perfected, taking a convincing win in A Grade.
A well earned win for a well deserving, long time NSCC member.
1st Matt Garnon (NSCC)
2nd Phil Nelson (NSCC)
3rd Andy Logan (NSCC)
B Grade
As always a large bunch tackled B grade with a few new comers adding to the uncertainty of a result.
Young Michael Potter again brought his talent to B Grade to mix it with the big boys and put on a display reminiscent of NSWIS U19 rider Caleb Ewen who just took out two stages of the Bay Crits in Victoria!
While Michael didn't manage to take the win today, he was acknowledged by those watching, as the days "most aggressive rider" due to his repeated efforts joining nearly every breakaway throughout the race.
But the breakaway of the day and by far the "ride of the day" went to Pelotons, Todd Sinclair.
After a long hiatus away from Beaumont Road, it became quickly apparent that he has continued to throw the leg over "every now and then" and put on a true show of strength. Attacking the bunch 15min in with Dan Moit (NSCC) the pace proved too much for Dan with Todd simply soloing away in the 53 x 13.
He looked to sit in 1 gear for 35min at 85rpm and in doing so, opened up his final winning margin to 1min over the chasing bunch.
1st Todd Sinclair (Peloton)
2nd Michael Moit (NSCC)
3rd Fabio Petro (RBCC)
C Grade
Even the C grade racing was aggressive today with the lead riders catching A Grade at one point throughout the race.
Another NSCC young gun, Tom Green made his debut and is another rider to watch as he learns a few tricks from fellow NSCC junior Michel Potter.
Tom had an excellent race, initially singing on for D Grade and ending up contesting the spring finish in C!
The racing was fast and eventually came down to a bunch kick with NSCC's Bob Santone too strong winning by over a bike length from NSCC's Paul Moner in 2nd and Pelotons Will Stevenson in 3rd.
1st Bob Santone (NSCC)
2nd Paul Moner (NSCC)
3rd Will Stevenson (Peloton)

Last 7 lap times for me/matt from what strava is telling me:
4:31
4:41
4:37
4:42
4:42
4:43
4:45
I was pretty sure we were getting slower but they're fairly consistent. Obviously Matt's last lap was faster than mine
Pretty consistent with the stats I had except my laps are just auto every 5km.
Apart from the 5-10km starting the break looks like we sat pretty comfortable
Now the challenge need to do it again averaging 41km p/h. I've shaved my legs now will that help?
Let's get Beauie pumping all you HOAX's who didn't show up.
Sorry cant make this format
