Saluting Club Legend - Craig Stevens

For the past several years, once and sometimes twice a month, our beloved Beauie Race Coordinator - Craig Stevens - has been running our crit races at Beaumont Road.

Many club members perhaps do not realise how much effort goes into running races - not just on the race day, but all the preparatory work to organise Traffic Controllers, liaise with other clubs and making sure the course is in good condition for race day.

Craig has been doing this hard work - like all the volunteers who comprise the club committee - for one reason, he loves the club and the sport of competition cycling.

Craig is a shining example of the values this club represents - hard work, being humble and passionate about the sport.

I know Craig would be modest enough to also acknowledge the tireless efforts and support of club president George Mouyahet - who provides set up help, equipment and has donated hundreds of thousand of dollars over the years - and also Neil Aldridge, who is always there to help get the course ready, regardless of whether he is rostered on or not.

Craig is taking a well-earned break away from running Beauie to get to know his family again and work on his own race form. Like the top bloke he is, he has organised a very smooth handover to the new Beauie Coordinator Bob Santone, who I am sure will do a great job too.

When you see Craig out on the road, please take the time to thank him for all his work over these years.

This club survives because of the efforts of hard-working individuals who volunteer for no reward or acclaim - Salut Craig
